1. Lawn signs
To address the problem of left over, out dated temporary lawn signs, a resident suggested that people wishing to put up signs be required to register with the town, pay a fee, and be fined if the signs were not removed by a designated expiration date.
2. Audio Visual Equipment & Internet Access
The Board okayed the purchase of replacement equipment that will improve the transfer of meeting videos to the Internet. The Supervisor said that providing wi fi access in town hall was not advisable because of security concerns.
3. Fieldstone Manor
The Board set a July 16 public hearing on a revised flexibility request that would increase the density of the proposed project to 21 units instead of 16 by converting the stone mansion into seven units plus a community center for the residents instead of the earlier plan for only two units plus the community center.
4. Yorktown Youth Soccer Club
For the Labor Day tournament, the Board agreed to pay the club’s usage fee for the Yorktown high school field and also for the police presence. The club also offered the town $50,000 towards the renovation of the Jack DeVito field behind the YCCC.
5. Building Permits and Comp Time
The Building Inspector asked for additional funds for overtime to deal with the influx of permit requests.
6. Sustainable Energy Finance Program (Energize)
The Board heard of presentation about the program that offers loans for existing commercial buildings for energy improvements from Mark Thielking, chairman of the intermunicipal Energy Improvement Corporation (EIC). To participate in the program, the town will have to become a member of the EIC and adopt a model local law. The Board was supportive of the program.
8. Budget transfer
Approved a budget transfer of $53,960 to cover the unanticipated increased premium for the Police Department’s Professional Liability Insurance Policy.
