TIMES SQUARE HERO DUANE JACKSON TO ANNOUNCE CANDIDACY FOR WESTCHESTER BOARD OF LEGISLATORS
BUCHANAN, NY – Village of Buchanan Trustee and Times Square bomb attack hero Duane Jackson will formally announce his candidacy for the 1st District seat of Westchester County Board of Legislators on Wednesday, June 5 at the Field Library in Peekskill, NY. The kickoff event is set to begin at 2 PM.
“It’s time for the residents of Westchester’s First Legislative District to be represented at the County by a strong leader dedicated to providing the consistent service and open governance they deserve,” said Jackson, who has already picked up endorsement from top Democratic elected officials and numerous community leaders. “I promise to work hard and partner with others to build a strong future for our communities.”
On May 1, 2010, Jackson’s life changed forever when he alerted authorities to a bomb-laden SUV parked near his Time Square newsstand. His quick thinking and action foiled this terrorist attack and saved countless lives. President Obama called Jackson “an American hero.”

He was recently elected to the Village of Buchanan Board of Trustees.
