ASSEMBLYMAN KATZ OBSERVES ASSEMBLY LEGISLATIVE DISABILITIES AWARENESS DAY
Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,C,I-Yorktown), Ranking Member of the Mental Health Committee sees Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day as one of the most important days in session. The event celebrates creating awareness for the disabled community while also including a legislation aspect.
The Assembly’s Annual Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day is a day where legislators bring members of the developmentally-disabled community to Albany to honor them and recognize the efforts of those to improve the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities. The legislators vote on several related pieces of legislation; there are also seminars, a youth poster contest, an art exhibition, among other events.
“Legislative Disabilities Awareness Day has to continue to be a part of our lives here in Albany. We must continue our fight for those who are some of the most vulnerable in society,” said Katz. “This event is something I’m proud to have my name on each year.”
