ANDREA RENDO LAUNCHES
CAMPAIGN FOR COUNTY LEGISLATOR
Lewisboro Lewisboro attorney Andrea Rendo has garnered the support of Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and the Westchester Republican County Committee for a bid to return a voice of reason for northern Westchester’s taxpayers on the Board of Legislators in the 2nd district. On Friday, Rendo announced that she is mounting a vigorous challenge to Westchester County Board of Legislators Majority Leader Peter Harckham.
“I am running to be the independent voice Westchester taxpayers deserve, who is not beholden to any special interests, unions or political leader,” Rendo said. “Our residents deserve someone who will fight for them, someone who is willing to work toward bipartisan compromise and most importantly, someone who will listen.”
Currently a partner at Wallach & Rendo LLP, she concentrates in criminal and civil litigation. As a small business owner who is raising a family here in Westchester, Rendo says she holds a unique perspective on the need to ease the enormous tax burden on Westchester residents and make our County a more affordable place.
Rendo says her many years of courtroom experience will make her an effective advocate for the residents of Northern Westchester. “I’m not afraid to stand up to the powers that be on both sides of the aisle,” she said.
“Under my opponents watch as Majority Leader, Westchester has consistently been named the highest taxed county in the United States of America,” Rendo said.
When elected, Rendo said she will continue to look for ways to cut taxes, hold the line on spending and produce balanced budgets without resorting to gimmicks like back-door borrowing in order to preserve and fund vital services responsibly.
“It seems some who sit with the majority are eager to play the blame game and constantly lay failures on others, such as the County Executive,” Rendo said. “Rather than blame people, I plan on taking action as your next County Legislator to deliver results.”
County Executive Rob Astorino said, “As a small business owner and working mother, Andrea will be the voice for job growth and tax reform northern Westchester needs on the Board of Legislators. She has the courage to stand up to the special interests that have driven the cost of government to unsustainable levels, giving us the highest taxes in the nation. Andrea will be part of the bi-partisan reform movement working to make Westchester a better and more affordable place to raise families.”
“I am committed to cutting taxes, reforming County Government, opening the County to new businesses and job creating projects,” Rendo said. “My campaign is also about restoring honesty and integrity in White Plains.”
Rendo hopes to capture the 2nd legislative district seat, which is comprised of the towns of Bedford, Lewisboro, Mt. Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge and a portion of Somers.
