Assemblywoman Galef Highlights Efforts to Improve Transportation in
Putnam County on her “Dear Sandy” TV Show
(May 10, 2013) The latest installment of Assemblywoman Sandy Galef’s television program “Dear Sandy” highlights the efforts being made by various Putnam County government organizations to improve transportation within the county. Galef is joined by Anthony Ruggiero, Commissioner of Putnam County Department of Planning, Development and Public Transportation and Vincent Tamagna, Chairman of the Putnam County Transportation Task Force.
Part of Galef’s district is located in Putnam County, a county with a little under 100,000 people. Currently there are obstacles to public transportation, and there is no efficient, traditional bus system that you might find in other counties. Only about one-third of the county is served by any sort of public transportation. Tamagna discusses the role of the newly formed task force he leads and some of the suggestions that they plan on making to the County administration. Ruggiero discusses the current transportation system and the complications involved in making any changes. Both Ruggiero and Tamagna are working with various organizations to test the current transportation, riding the buses and trains to see what is working and what is not.
“I’m sure that my constituents will be as interested as I was to learn about the current state of Putnam County’s transportation system, and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for transportation changes.” said Galef.
