***BOL Committee of the Whole Meeting To Discuss Housing Settlement Issues***

White Plains, NY – The Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL) Committee of the Whole will be meeting TODAY—Tuesday, April 16 at 2 PM to discuss housing settlement issues.

The BOL Committee of the Whole meeting had been called initially by BOL Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers) to take place yesterday so the legislators could discuss with County Executive Rob Astorino his request to authorize the County Attorney to institute legal proceedings on behalf of Westchester County against the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

But County Executive Astorino was unavailable yesterday; he is not expected to be present at today’s Committee of the Whole meeting either. The urgency of the issue, with Westchester now in jeopardy of losing $7.4 million in Community Development Block Grant funds, necessitates that legislators meet with and hear from Administration officials about the ongoing impasse with HUD over the County’s non-compliance with the housing settlement, said Jenkins.
