BRONX, NY… After accepting the resignation of Chairman Jay Savino, the Bronx County Republican Committee unanimously voted on Friday night to elect John M. Greaney as their new County Chair to fill out the remainder of former Chairman Savino’s unexpired term.

Chairman Greaney is a Bronx native and veteran of the United States Air Force with a record of public service spanning four decades. His extensive resume includes service in the New York State Department of Commerce, Bronx Borough President’s Office, New York City Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications and New York City Office of Emergency Management.

Prior to his retirement due to 9/11-related medical problems, Chairman Greaney served as the Supervisor of Poll Site Development and Election Day Operations at the Bronx Office of the New York City Board of Elections.

“I am honored to have been elected Chairman of the Bronx County Committee by my peers,” said Chairman Greaney. “2013 is an important year for our county and our party. I look forward to working with both my Bronx committee and the State Party to promote the principles that our city and state need to grow our economy and create jobs. Our team of dedicated Republicans will bring success and prosperity back to our great community.”

“I commend the Bronx County Committee for their swift action in electing John Greaney as their next Chair,” added New York Republican Chairman Ed Cox. “As a distinguished public servant, Chairman Greaney is the perfect person to lead Bronx County during this period. I’m thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
