Hello Andy – I hope you had a terrific Easter.
Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen and I are putting together a fundraiser on May 1st to raise money for a new anti-crime initiative.
Would you please be willing to help get the word out about this event?
The event will be non-partisan and non-political.
We are calling the initiative the ‘Safe Streets Program’. The Police department needs to raise money that will be used for three key things:
First, the city will be cooperating with the County and State in instituting a gun buy-back program where the department must front the initial costs.
Second, the department will be working on an illegal gun tip line where a reward is offered for information that leads to the arrest of someone with an illegal gun.
Lastly, a general reward system that will be used to incentivize people to come forward with information that leads to arrests.
The event will be held on:
Wednesday May 1st, 2013 from 6 PM – 8 PM
at the Firehouse Grill – 63 Welcher Ave. (just off Washington St.)
It will be a fun Happy Hour style gathering with drink specials and free wings.
People will be asked to make a tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100 or $250.
Checks are made payable to: City of Peekskill Police Department and in the memo line put “Safe Streets Program”
Contributions will be accepted at the event, or they can be dropped off at the Peekskill Police Department or mailed to:
