WORKERS COMPENSATION SHOULD NOT BE RAIDED FOR MORE SPENDING
Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,C,I-Yorktown) expressed concern over the budget plan to use $1.75 billion from the workers compensation to reduce budget gaps.
“We cannot continue to raid these funds as a way to supplement increased spending. Workers compensation should not be treated as a general fund in order to fund government excess,” Katz said. “Government needs to rein in the overspending before we exhaust every resource we have. This is a dangerous route to go down and puts the future of New York’s economic recovery in jeopardy. This fund is intended to protect workers that are injured on the job. It should be used only for that purpose, and if there is too much money in that fund, it should be returned to the taxpayers.”
