GALEF SIGNALS GOOD NEWS FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN 95th AD –

$10,360,564 more in state education aid

The 2013-14 New York State Budget will be finalized when the Assembly votes on the budget tomorrow, March 28, 2013. The budget provides for $21.2 billion for schools statewide which is an increase of $936.6 million over the 2012-13 state budget and $436 million over the Governor’s proposed executive budget. This represents a $10,360,564 increase for the school districts in the 95th Assembly District for this year.

“We all advocated very hard for more school aid and I am excited that our goal was accomplished in this budget,” stated Assemblywoman Sandy Galef. “As the months and weeks progressed, I believe that I had more meetings and conversations with education aid advocates than anyone else. The education of our children is key to our future as a state and nation. Providing the necessary educational tools through this increased state aid will assist in bringing individual success to our youth.”

Specific aid to the schools in Galef’s Assembly District includes:

Briarcliff Manor…$4,039,952 total state aid, an increase of $494,161 over last year

Carmel…$23,371,214 total state aid, an increase of $1,925,193 over last year

Croton Harmon…$4,317,652 total state aid, an increase of $486,595

Garrison…$792,520 total state aid, an increase of $98,128 over last year

Haldane…$2,411,199 total state aid, an increase of $241,862 over last year

Hendrick Hudson…$5,519,679 total state aid, an increase of $1,118,257 over last year

Lakeland…$38,282,317 total state aid, an increase of $2,666,577 over last year

Ossining…$14,617,055 total state aid, an increase of $1,295,973 over last year

Peekskill…$31,314,107 total state aid, an increase of $2,033,818 over last year
