1. Ballfields at Holland Sporting Club
Supervisor Grace is proposing to use free fill to be supplied by the NYS DOT this spring to create ballfields and a lawn area at the Holland Sporting Club site in Mohegan Lake. The plan was referred out to advisory groups and Mohegan area homeowner associations for their input.
2. Sewers (Hallocks Mill and Peekskill)
The Board voted 5-0 to authorize the supervisor to sign a contract with local engineer Dan Ciarcia for up to $15,000 to do a study dealing with certain aspects of the Yorktown Heights sewage treatment plant and also the possible diversion of a portion of the flow into the Yorktown plant to the Peekskill plant.
3. Zoning Board of Appeals Opening
Councilman Bianco announced that there is an opening on the ZBA. Resumes will be accepted for a two week period and should be sent to email@example.com.
4. Yorktown Beautification
Members of the Yorktown Garden Club unveiled plans for year-round plantings in the 37 street planters along Commerce Street.
5. Boniello rezoning
Supervisor Grace announced that on the advice of counsel to “cover all bases,” the rezoning issue will be referred out to advisory boards and that a public hearing will be scheduled.
The Board appointed Peter Goldberg and Scott Ferreira as laborers for the Parks & Recreation Department and Michael Hoy as a laborer for Refuse & Recycling, all at a starting salary of $38,866. Also, David Humphrey was appointed as a driver for the Nutrition Center.
7. Selected resolutions
The town attorney was granted a 3% salary increase retroactive to January 1, 2013.
The Town will again use Auctions International to sell 9 surplus vehicles and other equipment.
Margaret Guinan was hired as a consultant for the Police Department at a hourly rate of $25.00/hour beginning February 11, 2013.
