Yorktown Town Board reviews new group home plan 02/26/13

1. Events Sign
The Parks & Recreation Department wants to put up two additional events-type signs to be used to promote department programs. The discussion focused on possible locations and the aesthetics of any new signs.

2. Group Home
The Richmond Agency plans to construct a building for a new group home for six residents with physical disabilities on a 1.15 acre vacant lot on East Main Street in Shrub Oak, near the Contractor’s Register/Lois Chiropractic office site. The Group Home Committee will schedule an informational meeting so residents can learn more about the plan.

3. Senior Advisory Committee/”Are You Okay Program”
The Senior Advisory Committee asked the Board to research possible programs that could be used to “check up” on seniors.

4. Water Department issues
The Board gave the okay for the department to purchase two cars. The department’s older vehicles will be “sold” to other departments. Also the Quinlan Street sinking road problem is a Highway Department issue.

5. Biometric time clocks
The Town is exploring the use of biometric punch (time) clocks for employees that would replace bi-weekly time sheets.

6. Hurricane Sandy
The Board voted 5-0 to pay a Hickory Street homeowner approximately $600 for damage to his house when a tree on town property hit his house.
