ALBANY, NY… NYGOP Chair Ed Cox released the following statement this evening in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address:
“It’s that time of year again: when President Obama pretends he’s concerned about the weak economy and the soaring national debt.
“He may say the right words, but we’ve heard the same empty promises and lofty rhetoric before.
“New Yorkers know the truth: he’s not serious. He’s not serious about creating jobs. He’s not serious about deficit reduction. He’s not serious about spending reform.
“If he cared about the deficit, he would have kept his promise to cut it in half by the end of his first term. If he cared about job creation, he would not have dismissed his Jobs Council earlier this month. New Yorkers know what the president and his fellow Democrats are really after: higher taxes and more government control.
“But taxes have already gone up- not only on the rich but on everyone who collects a paycheck. Now is not the time for more empty rhetoric; America needs real solutions and reforms that put more money in Americans’ pockets and create a better future for the next generations.”
