ASSEMBLYMAN STEVE KATZ TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,C,I-Yorktown) will be joined by members of the state legislature at a press conference Tuesday,February 5 at 10:15 a.m. in Albany to discuss the NYS Government Transparency Act, of which he is a co-sponsor. The bill would create a constitutional amendment that would place limits on the governor’s controversial use of a “Message of Necessity.”

“I’ve been fighting for government accountability for as long as I’ve been in Albany. I am roud to be a co-sponsor of this legislation to put a check on Gov. Cuomo’s abuse of the ‘Message of Necessity’. Our proposed legislation ensures that bills will be debated and voted on with time for sufficient review,” Katz said.”This proposed legislation will curtail the power of the governor to use the provision for matters of security, natural disaster, or dire fiscal situations. This type of executive power abuse only comes when government seeks to pull a fast one on the taxpayers.”
