Statement from Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins on the Passing of Former County Executive Andrew O’Rourke

White Plains, NY – Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins released the following statement today on the passing of former County Executive Andrew O’Rourke:

“I am deeply saddened by the news today that former County Executive Andrew O’Rourke has passed away, and on behalf of the Westchester County Board of Legislators I offer sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers to his family members and many friends in their time of grieving.

“The residents of Westchester County were truly fortunate to have been led by such a wise and visionary public servant for so many years. Andy O’Rourke never forgot his humble beginnings in Yonkers, and many of the county programs and services that help Westchester’s less fortunate were initiated at his direction. He recognized that Westchester consists of a wide spectrum of people from different cultures and ethnicities, and that our future prosperity and security would be the result of all of us working together toward those goals.

“Andrew O’Rourke will be well remembered by the scores of individuals who worked alongside him and were influenced by his friendship, intelligence and kindness. I saw first-hand how hard he worked, and how deeply he cared about the people of Westchester. He set the highest of standards for public service, and I will always endeavor to honor his memory in this regard.”
