Earring Making Workshop

Date/Time: Saturday, January 5th at Noon

Details: Make earrings for yourself and for a Battered Women’s Shelter. Optional: Bring any old bead jewelry that you can recycle into earrings! Hart Library Sunday Concert Series – Les Paul / Mary Ford Tribute

Date/Time: Sunday, January 6th at 2:00 pm

Details: Les Paul / Mary Ford Tribute with Sandy and Tom Doyle. A tribute by the man who was with this great musical team for forty years. In a return appearance, this engaging duo will perform and share their stories. Free tickets for this event will be available at the library, and seating is limited. Share-A-Valentine Begins

Date/Time: Valentines accepted weekdays between January 7th & February 4th from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Parks & Rec Office, 176 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598
Details: Children ages 3 and up can enjoy the gift of giving when they create their own valentines to be presented to various seniors in Yorktown and near-by areas. Valentines should be no larger than an 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper. The decorations are up to you! Submit your valentine to the Recreation Office between January 7 and February 4. Name, address, age and school may be included on the back of the valentine. Each child will receive a candy valentine for his/her participation.

A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters

Date/Time: Tuesday, January 8th at 7:30 pm
Location: John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588
Details: Led by Jonathan Glaser. A seminar designed for women to learn how to take control of their financial life by examining their values and setting specific and realistic goals. The seminar also covers key strategies for 3 common financial goals; preparing for retirement, living in retirement and paying for education. An additional discussion on developing budgets will be available. Please register for this program. The Programs are FREE and open to the public. Animal First Aid Program

Date/Time: Saturday, January 12th at Noon
Location: John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588
Details: In an emergency, before you can get to a vet, could you help your pet? Just like people, dogs and cats die from heart attacks. It is the number 1 killer in dogs and number 2 in cats. This class will certify you for 2 years in Pet CPR. Also covered are life saving First Aid techniques such as choking, bleeding, assessing vitals, poisoning, sting injury’s and much more. It is both lecture and hands on. You get a certification card, a booklet and emergency ID card to take home. So if you are a pet owner or pet professional this class is a must. Class size limited.
