Statement from Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins and Majority Leader Pete Harckham Regarding Today’s Meeting and Republican Refusal to Adjourn
White Plains, NY – Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers) and Majority Leader Pete Harckham (D-Katonah) issued the following joint statement regarding today’s Special Meeting on the 2013 County Budget and the refusal by the Republican caucus and two other legislators to adjourn:
“Today’s actions of the Republican legislators, along with that of Legislator Perez and Legislator Kaplowitz, were despicable and made a mockery of the legislative process.
“We stand committed to providing a fiscally sound budget that is right for the people of Westchester; a budget that protects our families, safeguards our environment and invests in our future economic growth. Sending the County Executive’s Proposed Budget back to committee simply allows for more negotiation and deliberation.”
