CASTELLI NETS WESTCHESTER’S TOP
Assemblyman Robert J. Castelli (R, C – Goldens Bridge) has received EPL/Environmental Advocates’ the top rating among all of Westchester’s state government officials on the only scorecard that tracks the environmental voting records of the New York State Legislature on bills that could help or harm our air, land, and water and publishes.
Castelli’s score of 93 out of a possible 97 on the group’s legislative scorecard, which examines an elected official’s voting record on critical environmental issues, was tied for the third highest among all 212 state legislators, represented the highest score among any Republican in the legislature for the third year in a row and bested 92 of the 101 Assembly Majority members.
“As we work with Governor Cuomo to rebuild New York’s economy, we must never forget our obligation to protecting the environment,” Castelli said. “From sponsoring and passing the moratorium on hydrofracking to preserving the Environmental Protection Fund and passing legislation to make energy-efficient upgrades more affordable for homeowners, I have been unwavering in my advocacy for the environment. I will continue to use my vote in the state Assembly to make sure that New York’s children inherit the healthiest, cleanest and most beautiful environment that we can possibly give them.”
The EPL/Environmental Advocates examined votes and sponsorship of 35 separate pieces of legislation that would either help or hurt the environment.
Assemblyman Castelli has been endorsed by the Sierra Club, America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, as well as the New York League of Conservation Voters. Both organizations also backed Castelli in 2010.
Tomorrow evening, the League will host a fundraiser to benefit Assemblyman Castelli at the home of Bedford Town Supervisor Lee V.A. Roberts in Katonah.
