Press Release: Galef Bad for Business, Earns “F” Rating from NFIB

IZZARELLI: Galef Bad for Business

Galef earns “F” rating from Business Organization

October 1, 2012 — Fiscal conservative candidate Kim Izzarelli has made a pro-growth agenda for our state and local economy a cornerstone issue of her campaign for the State Assembly.

Poor fiscal policies from Albany are crippling small businesses in our community and after two decades, career politician Sandy Galef is part of the problem. Her anti-small business voting record has made it harder for local citizens to own and maintain a business.

The National Federation of Independent Businesses gives Galef a 45% marking—a solid F.

Additionally, since Galef took over the Real Property Tax Committee in 2007, property taxes in Westchester County have only increased. During the past two decades that she has been in Albany, New York’s state and local tax burden percentage has ranked among the nation’s highest, currently estimated at 12.1% of income, the second highest in the country and well above the current national average. According to the Tax Foundation, New York’s Business Tax Climate ranks 49th.

“An overwhelming property tax burden, coupled with bureaucratic red tape, is making it harder to own and maintain a small business here in the 95th district,” said Izzarelli. “Our community needs a strong representative who will stand up to Albany and fight for local businesses. I understand that small businesses are the back-bone of our economy and I’ll defend that in the State Assembly.”

Kim Izzarelli is a mother of two who spent fifteen years in the private financial sector. On Tuesday, October 2 Izzarelli and Galef will be together for the first time when they are questioned by the Journal News/ Editorial Board. The two candidates vying for the 95th Assembly district will square off on Thursday, October 4 in their first formal debate hosted by the Westchester Examiner and PCTV.
