I wanted to share with you an op-ed that I wrote for the Journal News
regarding the housing settlement between Westchester County and the federal government. Though the county is ahead of schedule in fulfilling its obligation to build 750 units of affordable housing, HUD continues to make demands that go beyond the settlement.
HUD would like to see a county with no zoning and requirements that would force landlords to do business with the federal government. I have said HUD must abide by the terms of the settlement–just like the county–but cannot arbitrarily impose new burdens on county taxpayers.
I urge you to read my op-ed and let me know your views.
