Castaldi calls on Lopez, Silver to resign
State Senate candidate says, “Corruption must end.”
OSSINING, NY — State Senate candidate Janis Castaldi today called on Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Assemblyman Vito Lopez to resign after revelations that Silver attempted to cover up Lopez’s sexual harassment of female staff members.
“This represents everything that is wrong with Albany. It is not enough that Lopez resign. We’re looking at a situation where the Democratic leader of the State Assembly covered up a massive sexual harassment scandal with hush money provided at taxpayer expense,” said Castaldi. “This is corruption to the highest degree. Silver and Lopez both need to step down immediately if they are to at all preserve the legitimacy of the New York State legislature.”
Castaldi will take on incumbent David Carlucci on November 6.
